One of the first dogs we brought from Spain was Diamond – the Municipal Council Pound in Almeria had a dog dropped off – he was 7 years old – a gorgeous terrier boy named Diamond. The reason he was handed over: They were bored of him.
The pound does not hold the dogs long before they put them to sleep – and a wonderful volunteer got in touch with us and asked if we could help….this is the first time we saw him:
No one had shown any interest as he was considered old – and if we did not take him he would be pts. We agreed to take him. We still had to organise his paperwork and transport. Luckily a Spanish rescue decided to help us if we paid costs – so the ball began to roll…
Diamond was ready for transport, they had him ready and we were waiting. Diamond was groomed for us before transport – and when he arrived we were shocked – he was so thin! Also we were shocked, he was so lovely -Diamond by name and Diamond by nature. Although we see it often, we will never understand how so many wonderful dogs are abandoned. Diamond was days away from losing his life – another number – the thought still fills our hearts with sadness. It is dogs like Diamond that keep us going, they are all Diamonds and they deserve a chance to have a loving forever home.
Diamond when he arrived in the UK from Spain (on his way to foster in the car)
A few days later with his foster pal…
Diamond stayed with his foster for a short while and he proved to be such a lovely boy…he has found a forever home and they love him and could not imagine life without him. Here he is now…
He has a new life and a new name – his forever family are giving him all the love and cuddles he deserves!
