It is with heavy hearts that we must tell you of the passing of our beautiful girl Candy.
Candy was one of the saddest cases we have ever come across, she was found lying in the middle of the road, the volunteer thought she was hit by a car and left to die , but when she saw her , Candy lifted up her little head and looked at her – hoping this time someone would help her. She was covered in ticks, was in an emaciated state and in a very poor condition. She tested positive for Leishmania and it had started to affect her organs. Although her luck had changed that day – it did not go smoothly for her…she was moved to a foster home and while the foster was at work, one of her other dogs attacked Candy so bad that she almost died. She amazingly recovered from this and was moved to the rescue, whereupon she was bitten by an enormous venomous snake. But in true terrier style, she overcame this…the thing about Candy was she knew that things had to get better, she had hope and faith they would…and they did.
Lindsay and her family , like us , saw Candy, and knew she had to have a chance at a life of love. So Terrier SOS put those wheels in motion and Candy left Spain and went North! She was loved from Day One, received cuddles by the boatload, love and care. She maintained her feisty personality and blossomed – off lead running with her pals Fred and Rita, lounging on the sofa, getting up to mischief and mayhem whenever possible.
Candy is a special dog for her family, but also for all in rescue. Candy was hope, she fought every day because she knew that tomorrow could be the day that changes everything – she is a symbol to the beauty of life – to enjoy the present, not live in the past, and never lose the ability to love again.
Our thoughts and sympathies go to her family, we have posted some photos of Candy in her good life, as we want her to be remembered this way. We want to thank Lindsay and David for opening their hearts and home to this little girl, and giving her the love she deserved.
We were messaged about a wire fox terrier called Nana – 11 years old and the family needed to rehome her – they were desperate and despite all the attention – there were no serious offers.
So we got in touch, and now we would like to introduce the newest member of our rescue – the wonderful Miss Nana! She will be in foster with Cristina – one of our most amazing and overworked fosters. She will go to the Vet for a checkup – but she is in good health and we would like to find her the perfect forever family. She is fine with other dogs and cats (yes, we said cats!).
No small furries, children: 10+

Bobby will be arriving in the UK shortly and we are now looking for a foster family for him. Please see https://www.terriersos.com/volunteer/ for further information about fostering.
Please meet Bobby – on his passport it says ‘Valiente’ – it is because he is one of the Brave Ones. He was abandoned by his owner at a Kill Station in Northern Spain. He was abandoned with his friend Bryton – both are older and his owner decided that after a life time of devotion – they should end their days in a kennel – with only days to find a new owner. Bobby is approx. 10 – he is dog friendly, people friendly and he is desperate to find the loving home that will give him a wonderful retirement. Could that be you? Are you looking for an older gentleman, someone to cuddle up to? Go for leisurely strolls in the park? Bobby is in residential kennels in Spain – and when we find the right foster or better adoptive home – we will be bringing him over. He was abandoned with his friend and ideally we would love them to go together, but will rehome separately.
As they are in kennels, we do not know much about them – but we do know that if they are shown love they will return 100 times that. This could be the friend you have always been looking for?
Bobby is neutered, passport, fully vaccinated and ready for travel
No cats or other small furries, Children 10 plus

Update September 2015: Bella has some long-term medical issues, and we feel she can’t travel and needs to be looked after by the vets who have helped her so far. Consequently, she is going to stay in long-term foster in Spain as a Terrier SOS dog. We love you Bella.
Bella was in the perrera of Cantabria – she was dumped on the street by her former owner – she was in a right state – mammary tumours and a large tumour on her side. She was no one’s first choice for adoption – and it did not look likely that anyone would adopt her. And with her tumours, and her age (they knew she was older – over 8 at least) when it came time to make room in kennels – she would be the first to go.
What to do? We have a lot of dogs – many of them crosses that take longer to rehome and so we had to sit and make some difficult choices. Could we foster, would the costs be large, could she travel? What could we do? Thankfully we have wonderful supporters that help us make the impossible possible. So we spoke to the volunteer and said we would take her.
The lovely volunteer Blanca arranged her release and we took her – she first went to a volunteer for a few days until a journey could be arranged to Cristina. One of our long suffering fosters, despite having many of her own dogs, cats and also her own life worries. She agreed to take her and arranged a foster friend to take care of her day to day – but Cristina is the one bringing her to the Vet, getting updates and making sure all is ok. We are indebted to her.
Well, Bella – wow – poor girl had been carrying around tumours that were impressive. We had to get her healthy first- she has been having troubles with her digestive system and has spent several nights at the Vets as she has Gastrointestinal attacks. But eventually she was healthy enough and the mass of mammary tumours were removed and the one on her side. I will not post the photos – but the tumour on the side was larger than two adult fists – the poor girl had been so sorely neglected.
We did analysis on her tumours and the mammary ones were benign, but the one on her side was malignant. So back she went to see if the tumour had spread – xrays and blood tests – and no tumours were noted – so she has the all clear – but obviously we do not know what her future holds health wise. She still suffers from digestive issues and is on a special diet and that will continue.
She is in foster – and we are covering all her costs and they will be significant. We are not sure when she will be able to travel and if she will – will there be a home willing to offer her the love and care despite her age and problems?
But she now knows love and care , she is loving cuddles and the sofa. She has gentle strolls and people that care about her.
Bella will be soon looking for a foster or adoptive family in the UK. Please get in touch if you are interested.
Bella will be vaccinated, neutered and passported. No small furries or cats. Children 10+
