Lara – Welsh / Airedale Terrier – Rehomed

This is the lovely Lara – she was living in a yard with 3 other Airedales – chained up outside.  The owner wanted rid – the other three went to ‘friends’  – and luckily she ended up with a rescue.  They contacted us and we brought her to the UK.  The rescue does such amazing work and we are grateful we can work with them.

Lara was originally listed as an Airedale and when she arrived she was a bit shorter than expected!  She is 18 inches in height at the withers – so possibly a cross – or large Welsh.  In any event – she is 100% terrier.

She is in foster and we are learning a lot about her.  She is approx 2 years old and full of the joys of life.  As with all our dogs – she is neutered, fully vaccinated and has her passport.

This is what the Foster Mum has written about her very sweet foster girl…

Lara is a real cutie pie. Absolutely loves cuddles and attention. She is curious and mischievous and makes us laugh. She has spent the last 3 weeks settling in at her own pace we have asked nothing of her other than for her to feel safe and relaxed. When she first arrived she was naturally bewildered, extremely tired, thirsty & hungry after her long journey. She has a wonderful appetite for a small girl – hollow legs we call her!

Lara was naturally confused about bathroom habits and would be outside and then come inside to relieve herself. She is a quick learner and we are now having dry episodes throughout the night and day. She does however have a mat (human incontinence mat) that she has learnt to use in case of being caught short. We have undisturbed nights as she sleeps soundly.

Her curiosity grows daily and she is not phased by things as long as we remain mindful she may never have experienced the noises and activities in a home environment. Dishwasher, TV, washing machine, hoover whilst she maybe slightly apprehensive at first her experience of something she soon gains her confidence. Nothing here is done in a rush. With a very slow calm approach she has learnt to have her own new pink harness put on and already walks nicely on a loose leash , responding to an attention sound. She knows her name and comes running when called. Gradually we are starting to take her a little further each day into a quiet world of exploration. Lara loves to play and is a happy little sole. Nothing is more interesting than a box with paper and a couple of treats in and a calm treat searches.
As a young dog she is an active girl and she can move like the wind when she has her little wild moments of running & excitement. She is not a barkie dog, however dogs do bark when they have something to say or observe something interesting which is natural. In a short period of time with slow small steps she has made a lot of progress. Without hesitation we can say Lara will make someone a wonderful companion as I have said she loves her cuddles and individual attention.

She is being fostered in County Durham and any potential adopter must be prepared to travel

Gypsy Bella Rose – Wire Fox Terrier – Rehomed

This is the lovely Gypsy Bella Rose Button Nose.  She was found as a stray wandering near a large bakery in Romania.  She was difficult to catch – but with the help of some wonderful people – they did catch her and move her to kennels.

This poor dog has been through a lot in her very short life.  (THey think she is 3) She has Rickets from poor nutrition and obviously a very poor start to life.  She was abandoned to fend for herself at some point – as she was also hit by a car – this left her with a jaw fracture, spinal injuries and a dislocated hip joint.  She  then did fend for herself and managed to survive (somehow!) – the injuries did mend – but she was in pain from the hip joint.

Thankfully we have wonderful supporters and helpers and she has had surgery to the hip joint and this should mean she is more comfortable and able to walk without pain – she is now in kennels healing.  She will be moved to the UK when it is safe to do so. (Probably October)

We are not taking applications for her yet as we want to get to know her and her needs better

We will update the website and our social media with her progress.

Tobias – Wire Fox Terrier Cross – Rehomed

Update (27 June)

Well, Tobias has arrived in the UK and is in foster in Hertfordshire.  He is making himself at home – with all four paws!  He loves pillows and playing – he loves chasing bees (a very bad hobby) and doing sniffari in the garden.  He is learning to be an urban dog – so is learning to walk on lead and cope with the outside world.  We are taking things at his pace and he is learning fast.

The foster is quite smitten with him – and who wouldn’t be?

Please say Hello to our lovely Tobias.  He has lived 2 years (most of his life) in a perrera in Spain – and sadly due to the current crisis, the perrera was filling up and they wanted to clear space for the newcomers.  Clearing space meant his life was in the balance.

So here he is … A new Terrier SOS boy

Tobias is approx 3 years old, a medium sized boy (8.5 kilos) – we think a Smooth fox terrier crossed with a Wire fox terrier. But definitely all terrier.  He is dog friendly, loves people – but we dont have much more information – he is currently living in Spain at a fosters home with other dogs and we will update when we can.

He is lively and will need a home that will be ready to help guide him into his new life.

We will move him as soon as the restrictions are lifted – so hopefully May / June 2020

If you would love to foster or adopt – please get in touch – like Tobias, we are all ears !

He is not suitable with cats or other small animals – Children 10+

Rufo – Airedale Terrier – Rehomed

When we saw this boy – we just couldn’t stop thinking about him.  He was abandoned in one of the infamous perreras in Spain.  He was lucky a small rescue saw him and decided to give him a chance and take him out of that place.  We were contacted and offered to help work with this rescue and help him find the right home for him in the UK.

Rufo was abandoned – his ears have been cut of, his teeth worn down from years of neglect.  They think he was used to ‘guard’ someone’s finca.  He was left alone, unloved, uncared for – and eventually he no longer served a purpose and was brought to the perrera and an unknown fate.

They think he is 5/6 years old – a loving boy – but a dog that has been abused – he is shy around new humans – especially men.  He is learning to be a pet and is in foster in Spain.  We feel he is a dog that has suffered a lot of hardship – and are looking for a family to offer him a quiet and safe place to find his paws and be loved.

He can live with other dogs, no cats – children 10 plus

Petra – Wire Fox Terrier – Rehomed

Please welcome our beautiful Petra.

She came from a place that kept her for breeding and when no longer needed or wanted she was to be disposed of like rubbish. Thankfully some wonderful people stepped in, and she is now part of the Terrier SOS family. She is a treasure and she will never suffer that life again.

The foster in Spain had to wash her 4 times just to get the dirt and smell out. Petra had terrible skin (which you can imagine based on her living conditions) – she was treated, she got all her vaccinations and also was speyed. We discovered an ovarian tumour and it was removed and a follow up scan and tests does not show any metasteses thankfully. Her skin has improved, she has improved and we couldn’t be happier for her. She went for a stroll afterwards and guess what she did next…yep, a roll in the grass (it has transpired to be one of her favourite things)

She is currently in foster in Spain and living with a 2 year old pointer.  She has a zest for life, likes going for easy strolls, playing with her doggy foster friend and just basically enjoying life.  She cuddles on the sofa and ants to be with her people.

She is estimated to be 10 years old, and the Vet has said she is in good health.
